In 2017, she attended a series of Printmaking evening classes, specialising in etching with Master Printmaker Nick Richards at Thames-Side Print Studios. This led to her becominga member of the studio and learn extensively from Nick’s professional expertise in etching, as well as professional printmakers that she meets there.
Her works, such as the Acorns and Oakleaves and Still Life with Fruit, are centred on objects, with each piece beginning as observational drawings, and sketches. She uses a dip pen for linear illustrations and explores a variety of techniques, including aquatint, sugar lift, spit bite, and mezzotint, soft ground, soap ground, viscosity printing, and chine collé. Since 2022 Ruth has shown her work in group exhibitions; Derby Print Open, Ironbridge Printmakers Competition, Southbank Printmaker mini print exhibition, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, The Gallery at Green & Stone and Bankside Gallery in London. In 2025 Ruth became a member of Greenwich Printmakers Associate and is also a member of East London Printmakers and South London Women Artists.
